The 2009 JerseyMan will include the following enhancements:
The Sprint will start after the Half Iron to allow both races to finish together!
Course marshals at every intersection.
Unique dual transition area to accommodate the later sprint start time, this will allow the sprint transition to remain open after the Half Iron starts.
Swim buoys at least every 200 yards to optimize sighting.
The sprint swim has been shortened to .5 miles for 2009!
The Half Iron run has been modified to allow spectators to see the athletes more during the run. This also aids in making the course flatter and eliminates some vehicular traffic.
Added volunteers at registration to minimize wait times.
Additional volunteer support throughout the duration of the event!
Half Iron Distance race description
The course was carefully selected to provide some of the best course conditions the state has to offer! The course will take you through historic Frenchtown, which is a town on the Delaware River that is one of the premier cycling destinations in the state. It is known for its flat fast roads and scenic beauty.
Swim: Featuring a 1.2 mile one loop swim in Spruce Run reservoir. The swim will start on a well maintained sand beach that will allow plenty of room for all competitors. The swim will take place in calm clean water and will have buoys marking the course. The water at Spruce Run has water depths to 60' so you will be ensured a comfortable swim!

Bike: The bike will be a scenic one loop 56.6 mile race through beautiful farmlands and quaint towns. The course will travel to historic Frenchtown, NJ. From there the course travels along the Delaware River providing a flat (to downhill) lightning fast 12 mile section along the Delaware river. The route will then take you along a gorgeous babbling creek and passes through NJ's only covered bridge. There are no major climbs but there are some small chain ring climbs.The bike course will promise to keep your interest throughout the entire 56 miles! There will be 2 water stations on the bike with an assortment of recovery drinks, gels and water. They will be located at approx. mile 17 and mile 40.

Run: The Half Iron run has a new course for 2009. This course will be a two loop course that allows spectators to see the athletes several times throughout the run. A substantial portion of the run takes place within the park which helped eliminate the majority of vehicular traffic. The course contains some gradual grades and does not include any major hills. This is route has been selected to eliminate the hills in the area and allow spectators to become more involved in the race! Racers will welcome this course! There will be 11 water/aid stations approximately every 1 to 1.5 miles with an assortment of gatorade, water and gels.

Sprint distance triathlon

Bike: The bike will be 19.5 miles through beautiful towns and farmlands of Hunterdon County. The bike will be one loop on rolling terrain. There is one decent climb that is relatively short but it will be rewarded with a nice downhill section! Racers will find this a nice course!

Run: The run will be a 5K (3.1 miles) of mostly flat terrain with some slight grades on well paved asphalt roads. For 2009 the run loop will reverse directions, it will now travel counter clockwise. This creates an optimal flow of athlete traffic as both the Half Iron and sprint runs will overlap in 2009. There will be two water/aid stations on the course with an assortment of gatorade drinks, gels and water.

The transition area will be in a secure grass area located near the edge of the beach. If it is raining race day we reserve the right to move the transition area to an asphalt surface.
The finish line will be right off the beach making for a memorable finish with some great photo opportunities!!!

TIMING & RESULTS:
Lin-Mark Computer Sports, Inc.
All participants, both events, will be assigned a WinningTime transponder chip ankle band. You are financially responsible for the return on the band at the finishline area, even if you DNF. However, there will several volunteers to assist you with chip removal shortly after you cross the finish line. But if for some reason you are forced to DNF please return your chip to any volunteer and they will ensure it is returned to the timing officials.
Results posted prior to the awards ceremony and on Lin-Mark's web site event day. You will also be able to print out your own results cards.
Refund Policy:
Athletes may request a partial deferral by submitting an email request prior to April 1, 2009. Approved requests will receive a credit of 50% of your race entry fee that can be applied toward another NJMSA race. You can use this credit until the end of the following race season. After April 15th, 2009 all entries are non-refundable and non-transferable, no exceptions.
Event is rain or shine. No refunds will be issued in the event of the race being modified or canceled due to any act of nature. Although we will make any and all attempts to ensure this does not happen.
