Half Iron Distance race description

The course was carefully selected to provide some of the best course conditions the state has to offer! The course will take you through historic Frenchtown, which is a town on the Delaware River that is one of the premier cycling destinations in the state. It is known for its flat fast roads and scenic beauty.

Swim: Featuring a 1.2 mile one loop swim in Spruce Run reservoir. The swim will start on a well maintained sand beach that will allow plenty of room for all competitors. The swim will take place in calm clean water and will have buoys marking the course. The water at Spruce Run has water depths to 60' so you will be ensured a comfortable swim. Water temperature is hard to gauge on May 9th. It can vary greatly depending on the weather in April and May. Based of the last several years on that date it is anticipated that the water temp will be 58-65 degrees. Wetsuits will be mandatory.

The route will then take you along a gorgeous babbling creek and passes through NJ's only covered bridge. There are no major climbs but there are some small chain ring climbs. The bike course will promise to keep your interest throughout the entire 56 miles!
